Töging is celebrating: Simona Kneißl is the new Mühldorf folk festival queen!

A folk festival is much more than just an event – it is a piece of the Bavarian way of life! This also applies to the traditional Mühldorf folk festival, and this year there is a very special queen at the helm: Simona Kneißl from Töging was recently crowned the new Mühldorf folk festival queen. On Thursday, the 19-year-old prevailed against seven other courageous applicants like her PNP reported. For Simona, who comes from a family-friendly folk festival tradition, this election is a very special moment.

The connection to folk festival culture is no coincidence: Simona is very enthusiastic about folk festivals and has already taken part in parades as a table maid and flower girl. Her family is also deeply rooted in tradition; her cousins and aunt belong to the Altmühldorf brass band. She became aware of the choice through an ad on Instagram and decided to submit her documents with a letter of motivation and impressive photos in a dirndl.

An ambitious project

The presentation to the jury took place in the town hall. Here each applicant presented her strengths. Simona, who works as a technical product designer, placed particular emphasis on her passion for Bavarian tradition and her fitness - she regularly goes to the gym and plays volleyball. This combination of tradition and fashion seems to have made her one of the best candidates. After all, the Mühldorfer Volksfest, which will take place from August 29th to September 8th, is an annual highlight for her and her family.

Mayor Michael Hetzl and Walter Gruber, head of the cultural department and jury member, highlighted the extraordinary performance of all participants. The decision as to who should wear the crown of festival queen was anything but easy. Hetzl emphasized that every candidate was outstanding and showed great commitment. Walter Gruber particularly praised the passion that was evident throughout the jury.

A look at the traditions

The Bavarian folk festival culture is multi-faceted and deeply rooted. As the Table reservation website mentioned, the typical Bavarian is difficult to define, but a real Bavarian definitely includes traditional costume, dialect and the sociable atmosphere at folk festivals. These festivals, like the Mühldorfer Volksfest, are characterized by parades, the tapping of the first beer keg and numerous culinary delicacies such as pretzels and white sausages.

The anticipation of the folk festival can already be felt among the people of Mühldorf, and thanks to Simona Kneißl, the tradition will be enriched by another exciting chapter this year. Not only will she be present at the festive season, but she will also give a speech and show off her twelve dirndls. We can only hope that autumn will be accompanied by good weather and strong beer!

With her fresh enthusiasm and connection to Bavarian culture, Simona Kneißl will certainly be a worthy figurehead for the Mühldorfer Volksfest. Not much time has passed from her predecessor, the last folk festival queen Julia Huber - she will always be remembered, but now it is time for the next highlight in this living tradition.
