Democracy workshops for young people: Register now in Amberg-Sulzbach!
In the coming weeks, an exciting democracy education program for young people will be offered in Amberg-Sulzbach. The Amberg-Sulzbach District Youth Association is organizing workshops on November 6th and 7th that aim to promote the participants' understanding of democracy and to actively participate in society. The first day, November 6th, is dedicated to the trip to Nuremberg to “Docupäd”.
Registration for the events is possible until October 31st. These workshops are not only an excellent opportunity for further training, but also to refresh your JULEICA, the youth leader card, which many young people need in their voluntary work. For the program on November 6th, the group will set off for Nuremberg at 9 a.m. from the LCC Sulzbach-Rosenberg. A workshop on “participation” awaits participants there, followed by a visit to the “Street of Human Rights” and plenty of free time in the city. Physical well-being is also taken care of: a snack is available for everyone before we head back around 6 p.m.
Democracy and awareness of conspiracy narratives
The second part of the workshops will take place in the LCC on November 7th. A workshop entitled “The Power of the Group” will be held starting at 2 p.m., which will address important issues that matter in today’s society. This includes dealing with conspiracy narratives and their dangers, which are omnipresent in today's media landscape. Social media in particular contains a lot of content that conveys anti-Semitic narratives and uses manipulative images to stir up prejudice. This is an important topic that will be addressed in the workshops, as the connection between conspiracy narratives and anti-Semitism is becoming increasingly visible, as the Federal Agency for Civic Education [bpb] emphasizes.
One aspect that will be addressed during the workshops is the question of why people believe in conspiracy stories and what characteristics they show. In addition, various action strategies are presented to deal with such views, which often represent complex social phenomena in simplified terms. The participants learn how they can combat the dangers of conspiracy beliefs and what methods there are to deal with those affected.
Important information about participation
The workshops are a great opportunity for all interested young people and clubs to actively engage with democracy and the challenges associated with it. If you would like to take part, please do not hesitate and send an email as soon as possible info@kjr-as.de register.
Given the complexity of topics such as anti-Semitism and conspiracy narratives, it is extremely important that young people are supported and informed at an early stage. The emerging dangers of misinformation and aggressive narratives must be taken seriously. Ultimately, such events help to raise awareness of these issues and promote an informed, civil society attitude.
