Metallic summer: Dorfgütingen rocks at the first Meadow Festival!
On July 20th, 2025, the first edition of the “Meadow Festival” brought to life. Around 2,000 metal fans celebrated in the picturesque setting of the reservoir, which is usually a peaceful place. The atmospheric riverside area created an atmosphere that was well received by young and old. After all, visitors gave the festival excellent reviews with 5 out of 5 stars on Google.
The festival was not a spontaneous decision - it was originally supposed to take place in Feuchtwangen. But the cloister games there put a damper on the event. Thanks to the support of Mayor Patrick Ruh (CDU), who actively supported the organizers in finding a location and even provided the necessary equipment for construction, the festival was still able to take place.
A show of strength in Dorfgütingen
The organizers, led by Ben Ambrosius, described the construction of the site as a “tour de force”. The area was previously a sheep pasture and covered an area the size of around two football fields. The organization not only included the procurement of water and infrastructure, but also the logistical challenge of bringing 40 bands together.
As the name suggests, the Meadow Festival is a metal event that already has a high status in the scene. As the weekend began, fans from near and far came together to celebrate together and enjoy the exuberant atmosphere. The enthusiasm was clearly noticeable and the feedback from visitors was consistently positive. An aftermovie shared on Instagram was also showered with positive comments.
Looking into the future
The blind tickets for the Meadow Festival 2026 are already available, which shows that the organizers are optimistic about the future. However, it remains to be seen whether the festival will be even bigger next year. The uncertain future of the event will certainly be an exciting topic for many fans, because the demands on musical diversity and an exciting experience are high.
At a time when concerts and festivals are once again gaining a place in the cultural calendar, the Meadow Festival has proven that it is possible to host a big event even in a small village like Dorfgütingen. The first steps have been taken and the next year can come. With a solid start in hand, Meadow Festival could become a permanent fixture in the Bavarian metal scene.
