Ten years of Fit Together”: Focus on health for Ansbach’s students!

This year the project is celebrating “Fit together – we’re joining in!” a special anniversary: It's ten years old! Since it was initiated in 2015 by the health department at the Ansbach district office, the project has developed into an integral part of everyday school life. The focus is on the health awareness of the students. The project is primarily aimed at the fifth grades of middle schools in the Ansbach district and the city of Ansbach, as [Fraenkischer.de](https://fraenkischer.de/projekt-gemeinsam-fit-wir-machen-mit- Feiert-10-jaehriges-jubilaeum/) reports.

As part of the project, students are taught the essential aspects of a healthy lifestyle in a playful and practical way. Especially at the beginning of each school year, project cards are sent out that cover important topics such as exercise, nutrition, sun protection and mental health. This content is not just theoretical; The students actively engage with it and discuss the topics in class. At the end of the school year, a personal health booklet is created that documents the progress and content learned.

Promoting health education

Two years ago, responsibility for the project changed to Anke Schwed-Horndasch, who took over the helm after Joanna Knott and two interns from Coburg University. The project cards are designed in such a way that they are easy to understand, do not require a lot of preparation time and can be easily integrated into everyday school life. The aim is to make young people aware of their own health and to create greater health awareness.

To encourage even more engagement, prizes will be raffled off among the participating classes at the end of the school year. In the 2025 school year, the winners will be looking forward to great prizes, including a visit to the Rothenburg climbing forest as well as cross-boules sets and cornhole games for the other runners-up. This combines fun and learning in a particularly motivating way.

Support for health projects

But that's not all! The clever.gesund project team from Helmholtz Munich actively supports schools in initiating and further developing health projects. In a preventative approach, the topic of health should be better integrated into lessons and everyday school life. The support includes not only health projects, but also health working groups, elective subjects and P-seminars, as Clever Gesund presents.

The need for such support could not be greater given the importance of sound health education for students' futures. This makes the entire project a real community project.

Another aspect of health promotion in schools can be found in the services of Matomo, a web analysis tool that aims to further improve health education offerings. Anonymized data is collected in order to analyze usage and optimally adapt the offer, in line with the Bioethics and data protection guidelines.

In conclusion, it can be said that the project “Fit together – we’re involved!” not only celebrates an anniversary, but also makes a significant contribution to health education for the next generation. Continuation in the 2025/26 school year is already being planned. A clear step in the right direction to further promote and consolidate awareness of health.
