Baier is out of the important cup round – Aschaffenburg in crisis!

Once again, the Viktoria Aschaffenburg team is faced with major challenges. On November 5, 2025, the regional league team not only faces a decisive championship game against FC Bayern Munich's U23s, but also has to do without several key players. The club reports that: Benjamin Baier, the captain, is out for an indefinite period due to muscular problems.

Baier has already missed the quarter-finals in the Toto Cup against FC Würzburger Kickers, which they lost 4-0. These failures weigh heavily on the team, as well Arda Nadaroglu was unable to take part due to illness. The list of injuries is long: Michael Gorbunow has torn a cruciate ligament, Emirhan Delikaya is struggling with bone edema in his ankle, Henry Held has undergone knee surgery, and Niklas Biehrer is out of action due to pubic bone inflammation.

New captain at home

Interestingly, Baier only recently moved to Viktoria Aschaffenburg. The 37-year-old midfielder returned to his homeland from Rot-Weiss Essen, where he can look forward to a contract until 2021. In the past five years, Baier has played 189 competitive games for RWE, scoring 43 goals and providing 29 assists. Victoria Aschaffenburg reacted early on when the opportunity for this change arose, and sporting director Benni Hotz sees Baier as an important leader who will particularly support young players.

Baier brings with him enormous experience, which he has gained over twelve years in professional football, and is highlighted as a central figure in the team. Before his time at Rot-Weiss Essen, he played for SV Darmstadt 98, RB Leipzig and Kickers Offenbach, among others. Maik Seitz, Viktoria's coach, has great confidence in the abilities of his new captain and is optimistic about the upcoming challenges in the championship.

Difficult times for Victoria

The next games will determine how the team can perform under these adverse circumstances. The game against FC Bayern Munich's U23s on Saturday at 2 p.m. is considered important to get back on track in the league. Fans are hoping for a strong performance from the remaining players and that the injured return soon.
