Viktoria Aschaffenburg takes a point against Illertissen: pure excitement!
What an exciting game in the Schönbusch stadium in Aschaffenburg! The 13th matchday of the Regionalliga Bayern had a lot to offer, and the spectators were determined not to miss out on real football fireworks. A total of 773 fans gathered to cheer on their teams - SV Viktoria Aschaffenburg and FV Illertissen. Despite great effort and thrilling scenes, the teams ended up with a 1-1 draw.
The coach of Viktoria Aschaffenburg, Aytac Sulu, put his team in a strong position. Max Grün hopped between the posts as goalkeeper, supported by defenders like Younes Azahaf and captain Benjamin Baier. On the other hand, Holger Bachthaler set the pace for the Illertisseners, who were also well positioned with Malwin Zok in goal and captain Max Zeller on the field.
Exciting gameplay
The game was lively from the start. The hosts caused danger in the 5th minute when Lian Akkus Rodriguez had the first chance of the game. But the Illertissers didn't let themselves be left behind either - a free kick from Milos Cocic in the 13th minute brought momentum into the game. But the first 45 minutes remained goalless. There were numerous chances to score, but the goalkeepers held up well.
In the second half, Aytac Sulu's team got going better. A great opportunity arose when a foul on Nino Cassaniti resulted in a penalty for Viktoria. Captain Baier stepped up, but his chance was thwarted by Illertissen's keeper Zok (26th minute).
After several dangerous advances, it was finally Cassaniti who made it 1-0 for the hosts in the 81st minute. The joy didn't last long, however, as Max Zeller netted the visitors' equalizer in the very last minute, the 90th minute. A dramatic end to the game, which almost took a turn in stoppage time when Roberto Desch had the opportunity to take the lead again, but failed to score (90th + 3 minutes).
A draw with mixed feelings
Although Viktoria scored a point, the players and coaches felt that more could have been achieved. "We played very well and had numerous chances. The game would have been ours," summed up Sulu after the match. The even distribution of yellow cards reflected the intensity of the game, which created exciting moments.
Fans and experts agree: This draw should have seen the three points distributed somewhere more fairly. If you would like to find out more details and information about this game, you can take a look at the Kicker page.
