FC Augsburg starts exciting cooperation with Buriram United!

In an exciting development in international football, FC Augsburg (FCA) today announced a three-year cooperation with Thai club Buriram United F.C. officially announced. This partnership was launched in Buriram and aims to promote the training of young talents. The FCA will also train Thai young footballers in the summer as part of the DFL project “Bundesliga Dream”, reports the FC Augsburg website here.

This new collaboration opens up many possibilities. FCA managing director Michael Ströll expressed optimism about the cooperation and emphasized the advantages that would arise for both clubs through the exchange of resources and networks. "It's about more than just football. We want to help the players develop," said Ströll. Pierre Lemmermeyer, also from FCA, added that FCA's youth coaches will regularly travel to Thailand to share knowledge and conduct workshops.

Focus of the cooperation

A special highlight is the planned training for selected talents from Buriram in the FC Augsburg youth performance center. Young players will have the opportunity to learn directly from German football culture. Trainers from Buriram United also sit in on the FCA to gain insights into the training work. Chonchanok Chidchob, co-president of Buriram United, emphasized the importance of this cooperation for the training of young players.

The Buriram United Academy, formed from the merger of Buriram PEA and Buriram FC, currently has 160 youth footballers aged 11 to 19 in its ranks. The stated aim of this academy is to train players for the senior team. With over 36 national and international titles, Buriram United is the most successful club in Thailand. The home stadium, the Chang Arena, has space for 32,600 spectators and is a sign of the high status of football in the region.

International context

These initiatives are in line with the Bundesliga's overall ambition to have a stronger presence in international football. As part of the “Bundesliga Dream” project, other countries such as China have also been included in recent months. Bundesliga International recently presented the “Bundesliga Dream China” project in Shanghai, in which talented players from China's U16 national team will train in the youth academies of German clubs here.

The Bundesliga is now considered the home of Asian players in Europe, with more Asian players in the Bundesliga than in the other four major European leagues combined in the last 20 years. This shows how important the exchange and promotion of young talent has become for German clubs.

Football academies in focus

Football academies are very important in Europe. Not only do they offer excellent training, they also offer modern facilities to give young players the best chance of becoming professional footballers. The best-known academies include FC Barcelona's La Masia and Ajax Amsterdam's youth academy, which have repeatedly produced world-class players here.

In summary, it can be said that the cooperation between FC Augsburg and Buriram United not only strengthens the development of young talent in Thailand, but also represents an important step for the Bundesliga in an international context. Such partnerships could have a lasting impact on the future development of football in Asia.
