New Café Keck opens in Augsburg: A hip meeting place for everyone!
Did you know that Augsburg now has a new café? On the corner of Frölichstrasse and Sieglindenstrasse, the “Café am Eck. Keck” opened its doors on December 4, 2025. The operators, Sophia Schmid (32) and Anika Ruf (36), have fulfilled a dream that they have pursued for years. Sophia Schmid searched for the right property for a total of five years. Now they have created a cozy place that offers more than just a coffee break - it should be a real living room in the middle of the city, where people can enjoy staying and exchanging ideas. [Augsburger Allgemeine](https://www.augsburger- Allgemeine.de/augsburg/neues-cafe-in-augsburg-cafe-keck-eroeffnet-112912638) reports that the word “keck” in Duden is described as cheeky and somewhat rebellious, which wonderfully captures the positive attitude of the operators.
The opening follows the closure of Lile’s Corner, a vegan cafe that closed its doors in September after three years of operation. The demand for vegan offerings is growing in Augsburg, which the founders of Lile's Corner took advantage of to create their own café. Linda (24) and Lena, who both took new paths after a café closed, were very well received with their concept. The two would like to offer their guests an offer that not only focuses on vegan and vegetarian dishes, but is also regionally and organically based. Hello Augsburg emphasizes that the café is attractive both for those who enjoy consciously and for those who are simply looking for a break.
The offer and the atmosphere
There is a wealth of offerings in the new cafes: from bagels to paninis to delicious cakes - everything is vegetarian and mostly vegan. The operators are particularly proud of their Fairtrade organic coffee. In doing so, they are in tune with the times, because more and more people in this country are attaching importance to sustainability and ethical aspects in coffee consumption. According to the Coffee Institute, around 10% of Germans regularly have a preference for vegan or vegetarian products, and this number is particularly increasing in urban regions.
A family atmosphere is very important: In the café you can not only relax, but also spend time with good books and board games, which you can borrow to your heart's content to enjoy a cell phone-free break.
Innovative coffee specialties
The topic of coffee is also central in the new cafés. Innovative coffee specialties with vegan milk alternatives are on the rise. Although soy and oat milk are now standard in many cafés, the variety continues to grow. Over 60% of German cafés now offer at least one plant-based milk option. This is evidence of changing coffee consumption, which is increasingly focusing on ethical and health aspects. The “Café am Eck. Keck” and Lile’s Corner could benefit from exactly this development by offering their guests an individual coffee experience and thus appealing to the modern lifestyle with their offerings.
The "Café am Eck. Keck" is open from Wednesday to Sunday: Wednesday and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A visit is worth it – whether for a good cup of coffee or simply to chat and relax!
