Alina Bronsky: Second poetry lecture in Bamberg on June 25, 2025!
Something is happening in Bamberg. Alina Bronsky's second poetry lecture will take place at the University of Bamberg on June 25, 2025 at 6 p.m. The lecture hall U2/00.25 at University 2 will be a central location for those interested in literature this evening. The author, who was born in Sverdlovsk, Russia, in 1978 and has lived in Germany since the early 1990s, has made a name for herself in German-speaking countries. Her numerous works, such as “Record Summer” (2022) and “Pi mal Thumb” (2024), are often nominated for literary prizes and attract the interest of a wide readership. Admission to all events in this context is free, which gives the events a special incentive. Wiesentbote offers more information about this.
The poetry professorship at the Otto Friedrich University of Bamberg, which is being organized for the first time this year in collaboration with the city of Bamberg, has proven to be a real highlight this summer. Bronsky, who will serve as professor of poetry in 2025, offers an exciting insight into her poetological approaches with her series of lectures. At the first event in May, which took place at the ETA Hoffmann Theater and was sold out, she thrilled the audience with excerpts from her work and discussions about her literary themes. These topics range from migration to cultural identity to family structures. The modern world of work and social issues are also touched upon in their stories. The ensemble around Prof. Dr. Andrea Bartl ensures that these events are well organized and accessible, as Uni Bamberg shows.

A look at Bronsky's work
The themes in Bronsky's literary works are diverse and often multifaceted. Food always comes into play, not only as a luxury food, but also as a cultural and social glue that connects people. Her books find their place in school lessons and achieve high sales figures. Bronsky addresses different target groups, including young people, which makes her access to literature particularly valuable.
