The basketball scene in Bamberg will open a new chapter starting next season. The Bamberg basketball players, who have been operating under the name Bamberg Baskets since 2023, present themselves with a new identity: From now on they are called BMA365 Bamberg Baskets. This was officially announced on Tuesday. The new name sponsor, BMA 365 GmbH from the fire alarm industry, sees several advantages in this collaboration.
Philip Höhne, the club's managing director, emphasizes the immense importance of the name sponsorship for the future of Bamberg basketball. After all, the club has missed the playoffs for the last three years and is therefore facing current challenges. This makes the commitment of BMA365, a company that is active in the DACH region and offers fire protection services across Europe, all the more important. Managing director Axel Riedner emphasizes the role of security solutions and the life-saving function of a functioning fire alarm system, which is available to its customers with a 24/7 service. Property owners who subscribe to BMA365 for their systems benefit from a professional service - a good solution that also helps the association financially.
The history of the Bamberg Baskets
The basketball club was founded in 1955 as 1. FC 01 Bamberg and has had numerous names throughout its history, including TTL Basketball Bamberg and TTL uniVersa Bamberg. A highlight was winning the first championship title in 2005 under the name GHP Bamberg. Overall, the Brose Baskets, as the club was called for a long time, were able to win an impressive nine championship titles and significantly dominate the league. But in 2023, long-time main sponsor Brose announced its withdrawal, which put the club in a difficult situation. Despite the challenges, Bamberg continues to play in the iconic Brose Arena.
In the basketball Bundesliga, which is run by the easyCredit BBL is organized, twenty teams fight for the crown. The main round consists of 34 match days and the best teams strive for the title. With the new sponsorship, Bamberg could perhaps soon find its way back to the top.
It looks like the club hasn't given up hope for better times yet. The new name could not only bring a breath of fresh air, but also attract new sponsors and fans. When the Bamberger Baskets step onto the floor under the banner BMA365, it will become clear whether the club name is a stroke of luck and brings new successes with it.
