Act fairly and experience diversity: Actions in Bamberg for Fair Week!

While the summer holidays are slowly coming to an end, September is filled with exciting events. The highlight this month will be the Fair Week and the associated activities in Bamberg. This week of action, which will take place from September 12th to 26th, 2023, is the largest fair trade event series in Germany, which has been held since 2001. The first date of the so-called fair trade not only attracts committed citizens, but also numerous creative minds.

The city of Bamberg's steering group has already launched numerous campaigns to raise awareness of fair trade and sustainable production. A very special treat is the invitation to young artists to design chocolate banderoles on the theme “FAIR TRADE – Experience diversity”. The blanks are distributed to schools, youth groups, kindergartens and clubs. Submission of creative works is possible until August 15, 2025. This is a great opportunity for all creative minds to contribute their ideas and learn something at the same time.

A variety of activities for young and old

As part of the Fair Week, Weltladen Bamberg will be represented in the family tent on Maxplatz. Here, visitors can not only admire the colorful banderoles, but also take part in various small promotions and samples in the shop on Kapuzinerstr. 10 participate. These campaigns are intended to promote understanding of fair products and their manufacturing processes.

The head of the world shop, Johanna Wallmeier, is committed to ensuring that young people are also included in educational work. She plans workshops on topics such as cocoa, fashion, children's rights and the UN's sustainability goals. A special highlight are the prizes for the best chocolate banderoles. Three winners can look forward to a voucher worth 10 euros from Weltladen Bamberg. Aside from these activities, the Fair Week will also be all about community and exchange.
