Next week it will be that time again: the Bamberg district is inviting youJune 23 to July 13, 2025CITY CYCLING for the twelfth time. Under the motto “Ride along, stay fit!” the campaign is celebrating a very special anniversary. The goal for participation is clear: During the three weeks of the campaign, as many kilometers as possible should be collected by bike in order to draw attention to the advantages of cycling in everyday life. CITY CYCLING has become an established event in the Bamberg district and is organized by the Climate Alliance, of which the district has been a member since 1992. This campaign not only calls on citizens to take action; Local politicians should also use the opportunity to gain practical experience in cycling and thus contribute to better cycling planning in their communities. A team called “CYCLING FRIENDS” has already been set up to motivate cycling enthusiasts from Hirschaid to take part. Radfahrfreunde also encourages everyone to register by the last day of the campaign.

A highlight of this year's event is the overallten guided anniversary bike tours, which offer something for every taste and every age. These tours invite participants to get to know the district better and at the same time do something for their fitness. The following bike tours are particularly worth taking a look at:

- 10. Juli: SkulpTOUR – Kunst am Kanal

In addition to the bike tours, participants can expect a prize competition with prizes totaling over21,000 euros. The main prize, a MOCA e-cargo bike worth4,799 euros, should make many a cyclist's heart beat faster. And there is a photo campaign for everyone who loves photography: Simply take photos of at least six CITY CYCLING banners and post the pictures byJuly 13, 2025send by email.
A win for everyone
CITY CYCLING is now an international competition and not only benefits the participants, but also contributes to improving the cycling infrastructure. Citizens can use the RADar! Report problems such as potholes, which enables the administration to make improvements. The competition not only promotes health and environmental protection, but also offers the opportunity to experience mobility in a stress-free form. As the Umweltbundesamt confirms, the clear advantages of cycling are to bring a breath of fresh air into everyday routine.
