Bamberg waste-to-energy plant: New opening hours and higher fees!

What is happening at the waste-to-energy plant in Bamberg at the turn of the year? The new opening hours at the beginning of 2026 are an important issue for everyone who wants to dispose of their waste in an environmentally conscious manner. Wiesentbote reports that on January 2nd the doors will be open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. On January 3rd, the work will be accessible from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., before reopening at normal times on January 5th. Due to the holidays, the power plant will be closed on January 6th.

Another important aspect is the new combustion fees, which will come into force from 2026. Commercial businesses and institutions that dispose of their waste there must expect a new price of €182.00/t. For small suppliers who deliver up to 100 kg, a flat rate of 15.00 euros per delivery is due. The increase in prices has various causes, including the increasing CO2 tax, the obligation to purchase CO2 certificates, and compensation for increased personnel and material costs Wiesentbote.

The ecological challenge of waste incineration

But why are such wage increases even necessary? Waste incineration, which takes place in special plants at temperatures between 850 and 1,100 degrees Celsius, has both benefits and negative effects on the environment. Loud Sustainable production it is a common method of waste disposal. It enables waste to be reduced and energy to be generated, but it also creates harmful emissions such as CO2 and other pollutants.

In particular, the CO2 that is released contributes significantly to climate change. It is estimated that one ton of waste produces between 200 and 500 kg of CO2, which makes incineration more efficient than landfilling, but still results in high greenhouse gas emissions. A waste management system that relies on recycling and circular economy would be ideal in order to minimize CO2 emissions in the long term.

  • Neue Verbrennungsentgelte ab 2026
  • Abfall von Gewerbebetrieben: 182,00 €/t
  • Kleinere Anlieferungen: 15,00 Euro pro Anfuhr (max. 100 kg)

Is the mentality of citizens changing to deal more consciously with their own waste out of pure environmental awareness? It remains to be seen whether price adjustments and new waste disposal regulations will achieve this. One thing is very clear: If you want to know more about the topic, you can also find information on related topics on social media such as Facebook. This makes it clear that the discussion about sustainable practices and their implementation in waste management is becoming increasingly important.
