Bayreuth: 55 new daycare places created for bright children's eyes!

The city of Bayreuth is responding to the increasing need for childcare places with an exciting expansion at the Diakonie Bayreuth Protestant daycare center in Hammerstatt. This innovative measure includes a single-storey extension building in modular construction, which now offers space for a total of 171 children - 116 existing places plus 55 new ones. Mayor Thomas Ebersberger presented the modern and bright rooms, which enable shared use of the Hammerstätter Kita's large garden. This initiative shows that something is really happening in the city.

The new daycare facility covers a usable area of 363 square meters and is designed to be particularly functional. The facilities include two kindergarten rooms, a crèche group, two side rooms, a bedroom, a multi-purpose room, two toilet facilities, a kitchen and storage rooms. There is also a stroller storage room for staff and parents. All supply connections for electricity, IT and water are independent, and heating takes place via an efficient air-water heat pump. The construction costs amount to around 1.35 million euros, which underlines the investment in the future of childcare in Bayreuth.

Modern construction for the needs of families

The decision to use modular construction not only represents a quick solution, but also ensures that the daycare center's ongoing operations are not disrupted. When creating new play and exercise spaces, the children's needs can be addressed individually. BplusL, a provider of modular construction methods, highlights that this type of construction is up to 70% faster. This allows daycare centers to react flexibly to increasing numbers of children and changing requirements. Children need space to play, explore and develop their imaginations, and this innovation provides exactly the space they need.

The intensive planning between the building construction authority, the youth welfare office and the Diakonisches Werk Bayreuth has meant that the new places have already been completely allocated to Bayreuth families. This clearly shows that the demand for childcare places is high and that the city of Bayreuth is making good decisions with this measure.

As part of the expansion, the civil engineering and development work took place from May to July 2023, followed by the actual construction phase, which lasted from mid-September to mid-October 2023. This initiative is not only a response to the current situation, but also a long-term commitment to promoting early childhood education and care in the region.

The city of Bayreuth is ensuring that there is room for the little rascals in the future and that the quality of childcare remains high.
