Police catch drivers with five arrest warrants on the A9!

On the night of September 28, 2025, there was a sensational traffic stop on the A9 near Bayreuth, during which the police arrested a 26-year-old man. This check not only revealed that the arrested man was traveling without valid liability insurance, but also that there were five arrest warrants against him for various serious crimes. Among the arrest warrants listed were driving without a license and theft. Two years earlier, his driving license had been revoked, which made his lawless behavior all the more concerning. The police reported that the man was now transferred to a correctional facility to begin his sentence. According to Süddeutsche Zeitung, the 26-year-old also has to expect further legal consequences because he drove without valid insurance and a driver's license.

But the incident on the highway is not an isolated incident. Police checks on motorways repeatedly show how many road users do not follow the rules. An example of this is a similar case from 2019, when the Bayreuth traffic police arrested a 43-year-old man from Kulmbach. In this case, too, it was a stolen vehicle with forged documents. The driver tried to escape from the police at the time, but he was also driving without a license and was under the influence of drugs. An arrest warrant was immediately executed against him and the vehicle was already wanted by the French authorities. This shows how international and diverse road crime is. Rising crime rates in mind

These incidents are part of a larger debate about crime in Germany. Even if the police crime statistics for 2024 show a slight decrease in overall crime of 1.7%, many citizens have the impression that their sense of security is at risk. What is particularly noticeable is the increase in property crimes and forgery crimes, which often come to light during traffic checks or in traffic. According to data from Statista, around 5.84 million cases were registered in 2024, with theft and crimes against personal freedom being the most common crimes. This shows that although numbers have fallen, crime remains a serious problem in certain areas.

It is all the more important that the police remain active through decisive controls. This not only penalizes driving without a license and uninsured vehicles, but also increases road safety for all road users. Recent operations and the associated arrests illustrate how such control can degenerate when criminal activities come to light.
