Stadtbad Bayreuth starts the new season: free entry for app users!

There is great news for all water lovers and swimming enthusiasts in Bayreuth. On Tuesday, September 16th, the Bayreuth municipal swimming pool will open its doors again after an extensive summer break. All necessary maintenance and cleaning work has been successfully completed, as confirmed by Thomas Schmeer, the manager of the city pool. The team not only took care of the windows, but also gave the entire indoor swimming pool a thorough cleaning. The main focus is on technical improvements, which also include a complete renovation of the marble gravel tower - an important component for regulating the pH value of the water, which costs around 25,000 euros. Minor painting and tiling work was also carried out to improve the ambience of the bathroom.

Another highlight is the integration of the city pool into the innovative Bayreuth instead of money. From now on, visitors can conveniently pay their entrance fees at the machine using a StattGeld card. Users of the Stadtwerke Bayreuth app can also look forward to a special treat on Thursday, September 18th: from 1 p.m. they will receive free entry, provided they show the announced event.

Water protection in Bayreuth

The municipal pool is not just a place for swimming, but also plays a role in the region's sustainable water management. A large portion of the water that Bayreuth's citizens enjoy every day comes from groundwater sources. The Bayreuth municipal utilities are actively committed to protecting these valuable resources by securing well and spring areas with water protection areas. To promote sustainable agriculture, they work closely with farmers, but this often requires more maintenance.

The population is also called upon to use water responsibly. Special instructions here include the correct disposal of medication, cleaning agents and other dangerous substances that do not belong in the toilet but should be taken to the recycling center in Bayreuth. With drive and cooperation, everyone can do their part to protect groundwater.

Quality of bathing water

Not only the swimming pools in the region, but also the natural water areas are of great importance for the health of the population. The water quality in the pools and bodies of water is constantly monitored. According to that Federal Environment Agency In the last bathing season, 98 percent of the bathing water met the strict quality requirements of the EU Bathing Water Directive. Almost 91 percent were rated “excellent,” underlining the safety and purity of the water areas for users. While there have been closures in some cases due to unexpected weather phenomena, overall water quality in Germany remains at a very high level, as already noted in the 2023 reports.

With the reopening of the city pool on September 16th, citizens can look forward to a well-maintained pool with a high standard of hygiene. The combination of technical care in the bathroom and the commitment to water protection is a positive sign for the city and its residents. So, get into the water!
