Be careful, Bayreuth! Four important roads closed from June 23rd!

From June 23, 2025, several streets in Bayreuth will be the focus of closures, which will pose a challenge for road users until October. Residents and commuters who are directly affected should therefore prepare for changes.

Among other things, there will be a partial closure in the area of Hohlmühlweg and Fürsetzer Straße. This lasts from June 23rd to August 15th, although access to Sandleite and Keuperstraße will only be possible from the direction of Hohlmühlweg. The complete closure takes place from the direction of Fürsetz, so residents here are required to be particularly vigilant.

Asphalting work and diversions

Pottensteiner Straße will be completely closed on June 23rd and 24th. Asphalting work is planned here, but residents will still have access to the parking spaces. This work is necessary to ensure traffic safety in this area.

Weiherstrasse will also be closed to traffic coming into the city at the oval roundabout on these days. Detours lead via Riedingerstrasse, Dr.-Hans-Frisch-Strasse and Sophian-Kolb-Strasse. This approach is part of a comprehensive initiative to improve the road infrastructure in Bayreuth. Cities like Bayreuth are increasingly focusing on traffic safety measures, which will also be visible at the next planned construction site.

Construction work on Wunauer Straße

Particularly extensive work is expected on Wunauer Straße. There will be complete closures in sections that will last for a long time as pipes are being laid. However, residents can drive to the construction site from the direction of Eremitagestraße and Kemnather Straße. The recommended diversion leads via Kemnather Straße, Königsallee and Eremitenhofstraße, with the work expected to end at the beginning of October.

Anyone interested in further information on the construction site area can check the Construction site portal of the city of Bayreuth, where all relevant details and current updates are provided.

Road safety in focus

The city of Bayreuth is not alone in making its streets safer. The BFU offers a variety of courses to impart knowledge about traffic technology to specialists. This includes, among other things, training to identify and remediate dangerous areas and to generally improve road safety.

Part of this initiative is also the signaling forum, which serves as a platform for exchanging experiences about road signaling. Experts will continue to be actively involved in the exchange so that solutions for safe traffic management in cities like Bayreuth can be developed.

Although the redesign and the associated traffic disruptions are a challenge, they are essential for the future safety of all road users. We keep our readers up to date on developments.
