Freilassing triumphs in the derby: 3-0 against Traunstein!
The derby between ESV Freilassing and SB Chiemgau Traunstein in the Southeast Regional League on Sunday, August 13, 2025, excited the minds of fans and football enthusiasts. The parking lot in front of the Max Aicher Stadium was already full at kick-off at 5 p.m. and the atmosphere was charged. Held in front of around 700 spectators, it quickly became clear that it would be an exciting duel. Unfortunately, two early red cards spoiled the game and had a decisive influence on the game.
In the 4th minute, Mihael Paranos from Traunstein had to leave the field with a red card for a foul on Max Streibl. This early decision caused a shock among the guests, who now had to act outnumbered. Just 19 minutes later, in the 23rd minute, Freilassing also received a red card. Maxi Streibl received a red card for his behavior, which further upset the balance of power. In such a heated atmosphere, it was no wonder that the nerves on the pitch were palpable.
A goal for Freilassing
However, the first dangerous scenes of the game only occurred shortly after the red card, when referee Michael Krug canceled a goal by Tim Bageritz in the 13th minute. This left the Freilassing players frustrated, who still had better control of the game in the first half. A bright spot for the hosts was Daniel Aschauer's goal in the 45th +2 minute, who made it 1-0 with his header after a throw-in from Simon Schlosser and made the fans cheer.
Freilassing stuck with it in the second half and further extended their lead. Mark Kremer made it 2-0 with a precise shot in the 59th minute. The guests from Traunstein hardly had any significant chances at this point, which underlined the dominance of the ESV. Aschauer crowned his performance in the 82nd minute with his second goal - the 3-0 was perfect and brought the decision.
The final phase and the voices after the game
The almost final phase with only nine players on the pitch for Freilassing turned out to be unproblematic, although Markus Prechtl was injured. Traunstein didn't get more than two shots on goal, Julian Höllen's last attempt only came in the 89th minute. This meant that ESV Freilassing remained top of the table, at least before the remaining match days of the weekend were completed.
Albert Deiter, coach of ESV Freilassing, said after the game that the victory was absolutely deserved, even if the unrest had caused problems at the beginning. Josef Aschauer von Traunstein noted that the red cards influenced the game and Freilassing couldn't do enough against them. Daniel Aschauer, celebrated as a double packer, raved about the outstanding feeling he had during the game. Because both his first and second goals were well placed.
The derby once again demonstrated the great potential of the football city of Freilassing. But Traunstein also has to keep his head up and look forward. Football is also a game of ups and downs - and in the national league everything is possible.
