62 new farmers from Schwandorf, Cham and Regensburg are celebrating success!

On Thursday, the ceremonial acquittal of over 60 young farmers from the Schwandorf, Cham and Regensburg districts took place in the Schwarzachtalhalle in Neunburg. Karl Holmeier, former CSU member of the Bundestag and deputy district administrator of the Cham district, appreciated the importance of the vocational qualification and called on new farmers to actively apply what they had learned in practice. In a similarly motivating speech, Neunburg's second mayor Margit Reichl also wished the examinees curiosity and commitment to their professional future. Ely Eibisch, President of the Bavarian Farmers' Association, spoke about the social changes and the challenges facing agriculture. There are currently 17,000 companies in Upper Palatinate that have to adapt.

Training and exams

A special highlight was the handover of the first certificate with the dream grade 1.0 to Michael Graf, as Michael Vetter from the Neunburg branch of the Oskar von Miller vocational school center reported. Florian Burth, chairman of the audit committee, thanked the audit companies and the dedicated auditors. The 62 examinees completed the exams with an average grade of 2.75, with the best in the year achieving an average of 1.14.

Overall, it can be seen that both full-time and part-time farmers have provided similar services. Part-time farmers complete the (modular-structured) training parallel to full-time employment, which requires a high level of commitment.

Dynamics in agricultural education

Current developments in training indicate that farmers of the future are well prepared. Loud BLE The number of farmer trainees rose in 2022 for the first time in a long time - from 8,538 to 8,730. This positive development can be particularly observed in Bavaria, where the number rises to 1,275, behind Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia.

Against this background, the growing proportion of women in the new cohort is a positive signal: the proportion of female trainees rose by 7 percent to 1,830.

Today's new farmers can therefore look to their future careers with confidence. They are not only prepared for the challenges of modern agriculture, but also bring a breath of fresh air and ideas. Their training has prepared them for the diverse tasks in an ever-changing field, and society can rely on these new, motivated minds who are committed to agriculture.
