Action Day of the FFW Miltach: Young people learn how to save and extinguish fires!
Last weekend it was “fire and flames” for the youngest children in Miltach! The Miltach Volunteer Fire Department (FFW) invited people to an exciting day of action as part of the community's holiday leisure program, in which over 30 young participants were able to enthusiastically take part as “young firefighters”. This year's theme, "The Four Elements - Earth, Water, Fire, Air", offered the children a colorful and educational mix of all kinds of activities.
A central goal of the event was to introduce the children to the tasks of a fire department in a playful way. The focus was particularly on first aid. The participants learned basic emergency techniques such as the recovery position, applying a bandage and learned about the dangers of fire and smoke. The correct behavior in the event of a fire was also discussed, which is not only informative but also vital.
First aid and special training
The importance of sound first aid training cannot be overestimated. There are special guidelines for training in volunteer fire departments that go beyond the usual requirements for company first responders. According to information from Lern-Helden, in order to be able to act correctly in an emergency, fire brigade members must undergo comprehensive training that not only covers the basics of first aid, but is also specifically tailored to the challenges of the fire service.
The training is carried out in accordance with Fire Service Regulations 2 and includes a total of 16 teaching units, plus in-depth training in other courses. This trains participants how to use special rescue equipment from the fire service context and teaches skills in dealing with typical emergencies - from traffic accidents to smoke inhalation. The focus is on advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation for adults and children as well as the correct use of various aids.
A day full of discoveries
The FFW Miltach action day was an excellent opportunity to introduce the young participants to the basic tasks and how to deal with dangers responsibly. In addition to the theoretical content, the children were also allowed to become active themselves, which encouraged their enthusiasm and learning in a playful way. Such events are a great benefit for the community and are a great opportunity, especially for children, to engage with important issues.
In this sense, the FFW Miltach not only conveys knowledge about the elements of fire, but also conveys values such as solidarity and responsibility. One can only hope that such inspiring action days will continue to be held in the future. Ultimately, it is the responsibility of the older generation to train the next generation well and prepare them for their future challenges.
