Trip to Bodenmais: Children meet the popular Woid Woife”!
Experience nature and have a lot of fun! Last Wednesday, June 11, 2025, 37 children between the ages of 8 and 12 from the Cham district made their way to Bodenmais. A nice trip from... Cham District Youth Association was organized, took place in ideal weather and took the little adventurers to the Silberberg valley station.
A very special person was waiting for the children there: Wolfgang Schreil, also known as “Woid Woife”. The popular hiking guide and animal protection activist is not only known from the media, but also enjoys an excellent reputation in the region. Many children had already seen his appearances on shows like “Anna and the Wild Forest” or on Arte, and when he arrived there was great excitement. Schreil inspires with his style and gives the children a unique appreciation for nature.
An experience for young and old
The Woid Woife is known for his ability to interact with animals in the forest and is known by many as the “wildlife whisperer”. There is even a wooden figure of him in Bodenmais, which attracts numerous visitors. Along the Bodenmais nature discovery trail below the Silberberg, interested young nature lovers can make exciting discoveries about forests, meadows and water on the trails of the Woid Woife.
But the love of nature is not only encouraged in Bodenmais. The WWF offers a variety of programs aimed at children and families. WWF Junior membership provides age-appropriate knowledge about animals and habitats, while WWF Junior camps offer children ages 7 and up the opportunity to experience nature up close. These offers, together with the adventure programs for families, increase awareness of nature conservation and the environment.
At the end of the day, the children were really excited about their trip to Bodenmais. Gaining knowledge and having a lot of fun at the same time - that's what makes events like this so valuable. Where else can you find the opportunity to discover nature and get to know a real nature conservation activist?
Such experiences are particularly important for the youngest children. They not only promote awareness of the environment, but also contribute to the positive development of children. After all the positive impressions, we can only hope that more such excursions are on the program!
