Big inclusion festival in Cham: 41 institutions ceremoniously united!

On July 6th it's time again in the city park in Cham: Experience integration and inclusion up close. The 2nd Inclusion and Integration Festival, which was launched by Florian Gruber, chairman of the Life Without Barriers (LoB) association, promises a colorful and informative program. How Central Bavarian reports, the festival will take place between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. and, with over 40 participants, will be significantly larger than the first event in 2023, at which 21 stands were presented.

Preparations are already in full swing. Almost 40 representatives from various institutions appeared at the preliminary meeting. There is something to be said: the festival will not only be a celebration, but also a strong signal for the importance of inclusion and integration in Cham. The Living Quarter emphasizes that such festivals and celebrations in social institutions make an important contribution to promoting community.

Diverse activities for everyone

Visitors can look forward to a variety of information stands and exciting activities. The exhibitors include the child cancer self-help group, the social association VdK and the Cham midwives. Children don't miss out either: a carousel, a bouncy castle and a cotton candy stand ensure that the little guests have a lot of fun. The Eibers & Friends family band and various dance groups bring musical entertainment to the city park. A special highlight is the flea market at the Diakonie social department store and haircuts by “hairdressers with hearts”.

The organization is supported by the municipal utilities, which provide a power grid for the festival. Gruber and Renate Hecht, the district representative for the disabled, expressed in their speeches the great importance of the festival for breaking down barriers and promoting inclusion. Donation boxes intended for the JUZ youth center, the Schönthal Montessori School and the Cham Alliance Against Depression round off the social commitment.

Inclusion – more than a buzzword

But what does inclusion really mean? Loud bpb Inclusion is understood as the equal participation of all people, especially people with disabilities. It requires that social institutions open up and adapt to individual needs. By breaking down barriers – be they physical, social or emotional – participation becomes possible.

The legal framework in Germany provides important foundations for this. The Social Code (SGB) and the General Equal Treatment Act, among other things, regulate that people with disabilities must be treated equally in all areas of life. This is not only a legal obligation, but also a social necessity. Living Quarter shows that events such as the Inclusion and Integration Festival make an important contribution to social participation and at the same time promote understanding and respect between cultures.

With a colorful spectrum of events on July 6th in the city park, not only will there be a celebration, but will also send a strong signal for inclusion and social diversity. Be there and support the efforts to live together without barriers!
