Kapelle Josef Menzl: Returning with three performances at the Volksfest 2026!
The anticipation of thatGäubodenvolksfest 2026grows! The famous Josef Menzl Chapel will heat up the festive atmosphere again this year. How pnp.de reports, three performances are firmly planned in the Weckmann tent, all starting at 7 p.m. The dates have already been set:
- Montag, 10. August: Menzl XXL – die Wiesn-Besetzung
- Dienstag, 11. August: Kapelle Josef Menzl
- Sonntag, 16. August: Kapelle Josef Menzl
The band can look back on an impressive history - it has been playing regularly at the Gäubodenvolksfest since 1998 and therefore has over 25 years of experience, which it brings to the musical design of the festival.
Menzl XXL – The new line-up
The chapel has developed further in recent years. In 2022 a new formation was namedMenzl XXL – the Oktoberfest line-uplaunched, which caused a sensation in the newly designed Bräurosl festival tent at the Munich Oktoberfest and from 2023 in the first few weeks. Like the information from the Chapel website shows, the band offered a varied music program, ranging from traditional folk and brass music to well-known rock and pop classics from artists such as Queen and ABBA. This wide range is performed exclusively with wind instruments as well as vocals and drums.
But that's not all: the band relies on an "original line-up", which is increased to up to 16 musicians in order to offer guests a distinctive listening experience. With a mix of concert pieces and traditional entertainment, the band ensures that no foot stands still.
Tradition in Bavaria
Festivals like the Gäubodenvolksfest are an integral part of Bavarian culture. But the traditions in other parts also found momentum and interest. The Visitor guide for Bavarian folk festivals gives an overview of the numerous celebrations that take place throughout the year. Particularly noteworthy is the Viehscheid in the Allgäu, which celebrates the end of summer when the animals return from summer pastures to the villages. Such traditions testify to the rich culture that shapes life in Bavaria.
Whether in the Weckmann tent or at another Bavarian festival – the Josef Menzl Chapel will remain a highlight for all festival visitors in the future! Stop by and let the music carry you away!
