Carolin Reiber: Folk music icon celebrates quiet 85th birthday!

In a few days, Carolin Reiber, the well-known presenter and folk music lover, will celebrate her 85th birthday. On November 2, 2025, the Bavarian icon will be all about small, family celebrations, as no large public celebrations or television galas are planned. Instead, Reiber intends to spend this special day in a small circle with her loved ones. Again Bavarian Radio reports, she will receive a special tribute on her special day. Carolin Reiber's roots go back to the early 1950s. As the daughter of the production designer Ludwig Reiber, she played a small role in the 1950 film “The Double Lottchen”. Her career took off rapidly when she was crowned Carnival Princess of the Munich Narhalla Society at the tender age of 18. Reiber then moved to Bayerischer Rundfunk, where she initially started as an announcer and soon became known as a presenter of large folk music formats such as “The Folk Hit Parade” and the “Grand Prix of Folk Music”. Her charming manner and her Bavarian language have made her a popular figure on the German television scene.

A life in folk music

Over the course of her impressive career, Reiber hosted numerous shows, including “Now Red I”, “Our Country” and “Lustige Musikanten”, which she shared with Maxl Graf. From 1984 to 1993 she presented the magazine “Carolins Fleckerl Carpet”, followed by the follow-up show “Bayerntour”, which ran until 2016. She was also always present during the Christmas season with “Christmas with Carolin Reiber”. Her passion for folk music and her social responsibility are also demonstrated by her commitment to the Catholic relief organization Misereor.

Over the years, Reiber has received numerous awards, including the prestigious Bambi and the Bavarian Order of Merit. She was most recently honored with the Bavarian Television Prize in 2020. Despite all her successes, she remained down-to-earth and stuck to her approach to appreciating the little things in life.
