Musicians from Dachau are sending a strong message against racism with Say No”!
An impressive signal against racism was recently sent in the Dachau region. With the premiere of the music video “Say No” at the Markt Indersdorf high school, musicians and committed citizens showed that civil courage is in each of us. This project, which is based on a newly arranged song by Konstantin Wecker, aims to both raise awareness and encourage people to take a stand against injustice.
The idea for the project came about a year and a half ago, inspired by a music project from Burkina Faso. The organizer Hubertus Schulz welcomed the numerous guests at the premiere. The creative energy that this project radiates makes it clear that it is possible to make a strong statement even without the bigger names in the music scene. The initiative was supported by local partners such as Seebrücke Dachau, the Round Table against Racism and the Democracy Alliance in Dachau.
Creativity and community
The music video was shot at various locations in the district, including the castle park, the Dachau train station and the market square. The project was musically accompanied by a talented team. Benita Lutter took over the solo voice, while Andreas Kowalewitz conducted the music. The hip-hop group #eigenArt from Schönbrunn was also part of this creative exchange. The professional support of Jakob Gatzka, director and producer, as well as Albert Ginthör and Corinna Barth, who took over the musical coordination, crowned the whole project.
Schulz appealed to those present to remain active and get involved in society, especially on issues such as racism. His call to be vigilant and intervene when injustice occurs resonated with the audience. With more than just musical contributions, the project aims to spread a positive message and inspire each individual to stand up for a more just world.
Media presence and distribution
The music video “Say No” is now not only available on the websites of the Democracy Alliance and the Round Table against Racism, but also on YouTube. This shows how important it is that such initiatives are brought to the attention of the media - especially in times when social cohesion is being put to the test more than ever. Every citizen is called upon to be part of this movement and to send a positive signal to the world.
At a time when creative expressions of music and art are important, this project shows that community and engagement can go hand in hand. Perhaps this is the beginning of a larger movement that has an impact not only regionally, but also beyond the borders of Dachau.
