Murder shock in Zwiesel: Three dead and one suspect caught!

In the small town of Zwiesel in the Regen district, a tragic incident overshadows emotions. On Monday afternoon, the bodies of three people were discovered in an apartment building, causing dismay among residents. The criminal police have now started an investigation, but the circumstances of the crimes remain unclear.

At the center of the events is a 37-year-old Slovak citizen who is suspected of having committed these acts. Special feature: The man was found heavily intoxicated near Linz main train station on Sunday evening and taken to the “Neuromed Campus” university hospital. There, in response to the doctors' astonished questions, he stated that he had killed three people in Bavaria, which prompted the Austrian authorities to inform his Bavarian colleagues, as Mediendenk reports.

The discoveries in the apartment building

When the emergency services arrived at the apartment building in question, they found the bodies of a 22-year-old woman and a 56-year-old man, both German citizens. The extent to which the two dead people were related to the suspect is currently the subject of investigations. The identity of the third person, who was also found dead, is still unknown.

A more precise picture of the background to the terrible act is not yet available, and there are no clues leading to a possible motive. What remains are many open questions that concern not only the investigators, but also the citizens. The Deggendorf criminal police station is investigating this sad case under the direction of the Deggendorf public prosecutor's office.

Additional terrible discovery

Also heated are recent reports of a separate tragedy in Zwiesel. On Tuesday morning, the body of a 55-year-old woman who had been missing since February 20, 2025 was found in Großer Regen. Originally from the Beroun district in the Czech Republic, this case reinforces concerns about security in the region. Fortunately, the forensic medical examination found no evidence of external influence or violence, as reported by Idowa.

The number of violent crimes nationwide has reached worrying levels. According to Statista, violent crimes account for less than 4% of all crimes recorded by the police in Germany, but they still have a strong influence on people's sense of security. Around 217,000 violent crimes were recorded in 2024, the highest level since 2007. These trends shed light on the challenges facing society and security forces, especially in times of social and economic uncertainty (Statista).

The Bavarian police have set up a press office at the crime scene to give media reporters the chance to obtain comprehensive information. It remains to be hoped that the investigations will soon bring clarity and citizens' trust in the safety of their surroundings can be restored.
