New coaching team brings a breath of fresh air to Deggendorfer SC!

On Friday, August 15, 2025, Deggendorfer SC's ice training began in the newly renamed Hitzkopf Arena. On this special day, coach Casey Fratkin and his new team began preparations for the upcoming ice hockey season in the Oberliga Süd, which starts on September 19th. Coach Fratkin, 36 years old, leads a coaching team that is fresh in many respects, which also includes assistant coaches Robert Suchomski (47) and Elias Vorlicek (74).

The ice sparkles in the new arena and the atmosphere among the spectators is great. Around 100 fans watched the first training session, which began at 10:39 a.m. with a whistle from Fratkin. The anticipation for the new season is palpable, and authorized representative Stefan Liebergesell emphasizes the excellent motivation and team spirit. With ten new additions and a fresh mentality, the current team promises a lot of excitement for the fans.

Intensive preparation

The next 14 days will be dedicated to intensive training. Two ice training sessions a day are planned as well as strength training and team building activities. The fans can already look forward to the first test games: On August 23rd, the CCM Cup in Crimmitschau will take place against EC Bad Nauheim. The Niemeier Haustechnik Cup will take place in the Hitzkopf Arena on August 30th and 31st, with the first game against the Halle Saale Bulls taking place on August 30th at 8 p.m.

The signing of Alexander Rose (20), who comes from Starbulls Rosenheim, is particularly exciting for the goalkeeper position. He will initially receive a temporary contract until November 30th, while Raphael Fössinger, Timo Pielmeier's actual backup, cannot train at the moment due to a torn cruciate ligament.

The new spirit in the team

Deggendorfer SC seems well positioned to start the season with new energy and a clear goal. The comprehensive changes in the coaching staff and the new players bring a “different mentality” to the team, which will certainly pay off in the coming weeks. The entire Deggendorf hockey community is looking forward to the developments and hopefully a successful start to the season.
