Eichendorf is making green spaces fit for the big anniversary!

At the last market town council meeting in Eichendorf, which took place on Tuesday, the maintenance of the green spaces at the Marian Column was discussed. Maria Gerstl from PRO was concerned about the condition of the facilities. “There is more dirt visible under the trees than grass, and there are weeds growing on one tree,” she noted. However, their wish to make the areas prettier before the big 950th anniversary celebration was clearly rejected by Mayor Josef Beham, who emphasized that the areas would remain as they are. Only building yard manager Hubert Nachreiner signaled his approval of preparing the areas in order to improve the condition, as [PNP](https://www.pnp.de/lokales/landkreis-dingolfing-landau/an-der-mariensaeule-in-eichendorf-sollen-die-gruenflaechen-fuers-jubilaeum-huebscher- Werden-18891023) reports.

The year 2025 will be a very special one for Eichendorf, as it will be marked by the 950th documented mention of the market, which is dated March 24, 1075. This historical mention was made by Pope Gregory VII in connection with the St. Nikola Monastery in Passau. Several exciting activities are planned for the celebrations, which begin on March 24, 2025 with a political ceremony in the post room. Among other things, there will be an “Auframa-Dama” campaign, where hidden Easter eggs can be searched for from April 5th to 17th, as well as an anniversary senior tour on April 10th, organized by Birgit Knogl.

The big festival weekend

The highlight of the celebrations will undoubtedly be the festival weekend on July 5th and 6th. On this special weekend, the town hall and post hall courtyard as well as the “Zum Anger” inn will be the venue for numerous events. On July 5th, a live band called “Jive” will provide music for the party evening, while on Sunday a white sausage breakfast and a festive service with Bavarian delicacies are on the program. The cultural supporting program is enriched with various performances and activities, and there is a kids area with lots of activities for younger guests. Entry to this festival weekend is free, and all children's activities are also free, as Markt Eichendorf points out.
