Silver medal for Horsch-Leeb: Innovation inspires at Agritechnica!

Agritechnica, the world's most important trade fair for agricultural technology, is in full swing and is attracting numerous visitors to Hanover these days. From November 9th to 15th, 2025, 2,800 exhibitors will present their latest innovations, including Horsch-Leeb GmbH, which particularly stood out. The company received a silver medal in the innovation award for its “Proactive BoomControl” system, which revolutionizes boom height control.

The German Agricultural Society (DLG) awarded a total of 22 silver and two gold medals for outstanding innovations from 234 innovations submitted. Horsch was recognized for the use of innovative 3D radar sensors that precisely record the environmental conditions around the crop protection sprayer. The control software processes this sensor data in real time to optimally maintain the target surface distance between the nozzle and the plant surface.

Technical finesse meets resource conservation

What makes “Proactive BoomControl” so special? In contrast to conventional systems that use ultrasonic sensors and only cover a small area, Horsch relies on radar sensors with overlapping cones. These capture both the target and the ground surface, resulting in high-precision adjustment of the boom. The advantages for users are considerable: improved accuracy when applying crop protection products and increased insensitivity to weather influences.

An exact target surface distance is crucial for the success of the application and at the same time conserves resources. The continuous adjustment not only promotes plant health, but also minimizes the drift of the drops, which means that work can be carried out in a targeted and efficient manner.

A look at the fair

Agritechnica has established itself as a platform for innovation and offers 430,000 expected visitors the chance to find out about the latest technologies. Particular interest lies in the topic area “Touch Smart Efficiency”, which focuses on intelligent and networked technologies in agriculture. With over 60 start-ups and 234 world premieres, the trade fair is a true hotspot for everyone who is highly regarded in the industry.

In addition to the exhibitions, those interested can experience the latest developments in the areas of GPS, robotics and sensor technology up close in the Digital Farm Center. In addition, a wealth of specialist lectures offer the opportunity to find out about future topics such as regenerative agriculture and data management. There is even a networking event for the young specialists as part of the “Young Farmers Connect”.

A visit to Agritechnica is recommended for anyone who works in agriculture or is interested in the latest trends and technologies. Access to the trade fair is made even easier with free public transport in the region.
