New senior living project in Nördlingen: self-determined and modern!

Something is happening in Nördlingen when it comes to senior-friendly living! eco residential GmbH & Co. KG and the Caritas Association for the Donau-Ries District e.V. have signed a cooperation agreement to create a new housing offer for older people. This move was officially announced on June 30, 2025. The aim of the project is to provide a beautiful home for older people who want to live independently but still need support. The starting signal for the first work is planned for 2027. Augsburger Allgemeine reported.

What exactly does the offer consist of? The planned barrier-free apartments come with common areas and various services that are intended to promote the residents' independence and quality of life. The Caritas Association will take on a central role here as a social service provider in order to guarantee a close connection to social and care services. The planning phase is also already advanced, so construction is scheduled to begin in 2026.

Another example of assisted living

But not only in Nördlingen, but also in the surrounding area, specifically in Rain, there are excellent offers for senior-friendly living. The Donau-Ries senior living park in Rain am Lech is a modern house with spacious gardens and offers both assisted living and full-time inpatient care. Accessibility is a central element here: all living and sanitary areas are designed so that they can be fully used by older people. The apartments are also available in sizes from around 30 to 90 m² and have a balcony or terrace. Living in old age highlights that 24-hour on-call service and support in the event of illness are available, giving residents a sense of security.

An exciting facet of the housing options are senior apartments without supervision. These types of housing are aimed at people aged 60 and over who want to live independently. They offer a high level of independence without the need for daily care or support services. Typical features of such apartments are barrier-free access and common areas that promote social contacts. However, it is possible to book services such as home emergency call systems as required. Johanniter provides information about the various options and costs, which may vary depending on region and equipment.

In summary, it can be said that the new plans in Nördlingen and the existing offers in Rain and other places in the region create a great offer for the older generations. Not only are beautiful living spaces created here, but the foundation for a self-determined and safe living environment is also laid.
