Healthy nutrition for children: Successful coaching in Babensham!
In Babensham, the Zauberwald-Zwerge daycare center ensures a healthy and tasty diet. Svetlana Drubel, from Schu-Mi e.V., beams with pride about her dedicated team, who work with passion to improve the quality of the food. How innpuls.me reports, the coaching program was the key to this success.
The head of the networking center, Irmgard Reischl, emphasizes: “Fun makes implementing changes much easier.” And that is also the core of the free coaching, which does not come with rigid guidelines. Rather, individual support is offered that helps the facilities develop tailor-made solutions.
Learning and celebrating together
The conclusion of the one-year coaching took place in the Grünwald forest adventure center, and there were numerous participants from daycare centers and schools. Not only were certificates presented here, but experiences were also exchanged. To recognize the commitment, there was a cake with the inscription “Thanks for the food”. This focuses on social interaction and appreciation for the work of everyone involved.
Another highlight of the final event was an interesting tour through the “tree and herb world in the forest”, where participants were introduced to edible wild herbs and their uses. This practical experience perfectly complements the theoretical content of the coaching and creates a deeper connection to nature.
A look outside the box
The coaching program, which is also carried out in other facilities such as schools and daycare centers, pursues clear goals in Upper Bavaria West: improving food quality, taste and affordability. Loud aelf-ff.bayern.de There is a lot of participation: In the current coaching year, three daycare centers are actively participating and working on their individual solution concepts. The kick-off event took place on September 25, 2024 and was a complete success.
There is plenty of inspiration: motivating food accompaniment, regional and seasonal products as well as more exchange between the establishments were named as frequent goals. For example, in the St. Nicholas Catholic Kindergarten, where attention is paid to a varied, healthy diet and the use of legumes has become the focus.
A real success can also be observed at the Gaimersheim high school, which has optimized its payment system and thus significantly reduced waiting times. Such measures show how much potential there is in the community if everyone pulls together.
The challenges at a glance
Of course there are also challenges. Different kitchen equipment and the need for modernization are topics that are often discussed. The balance between cost coverage and quality must also be constantly kept in mind. But the regular meetings in food committees and the exchange between the institutions help to overcome these hurdles.
The implementation of a rolling 8-week meal plan at Villa Kunterbunt is a good example of the creative and child-friendly approach to meal design. Here the children are actively involved in preparing food, which not only stimulates their appetite but also promotes communication about healthy eating.
The commitment of Svetlana Drubel and her team, together with the other actors in the region, has initiated a positive trend in children's nutrition. The vision is clear: healthy and sustainable food should be accessible to all children.
