Green candidates for Grafinger city council: Younger voices, strong diversity!

On October 27, 2025, the cards for the upcoming local elections in Grafing were reshuffled. The local branch of Alliance 90/The Greens proudly presented its list of candidates for 2026. This list is not only a colorful mix of experienced people and fresh faces, but also reflects the commitment to climate-neutral urban development. With a female quota of 55 percent, the list also shows itself to be a pioneer in the area of gender equality. The current proportion of women is undoubtedly a step in the right direction to promote social diversity.

The formal nomination is a significant step for the Greens in Grafing. Renate Wenning, board member of the Green Party, emphasized the urgency of creating a city council representation that acts with foresight and determination. Particularly noteworthy are the young candidates on the list because they bring fresh perspectives from the youth, particularly on issues of youth participation and the challenges of climate protection.

The candidate list in detail

The list for the local elections includes the following members:

  • Estella Hafenmair

Among the candidates, Finn Nave, who is 20 years old and is a mechanical engineering student at the Technical University of Munich, has a lot to say. He demands that young people be taken seriously, as many often have the feeling that they are not heard by politicians. The Federal Agency for Civic Education (bpb) has also emphasized this point: Political participation is crucial for young people. According to a survey, two thirds of 16 to 32 year olds have taken part in elections in the last twelve months, which shows that they have their finger on the pulse of political events.( bpb ).

Environmental awareness and commitment

For Finn Nave and his colleagues, climate protection is a central concern. Germany is one of the TOP 10 largest CO2 emitters in the world, and the Ebersberg district, to which Grafing belongs, is aiming for climate neutrality by 2030. However, the Greens do not consider this requirement to be sufficiently ambitious. Nave makes it clear that important initiatives such as the comprehensive expansion of photovoltaics and the promotion of climate-neutral means of transport, such as bicycles and public transport, are urgently needed.

The connection to Grafing is not only evident in this political work, but also in its involvement in youth and sports work. Nave is an active board member at the JIG youth center and advocates for the concerns of young people there. This shows once again how important political participation by young people is for the Greens in order to create meeting places and spaces in which they can contribute their views and ideas.

It will be exciting to see how the discussions about the list of candidates and the challenges ahead develop in the coming months. Grafing has set itself the task of becoming a role model when it comes to climate protection, and the Green Party list could play a central role in this. We can only hope that the voters in Grafing recognize the potential of this new generation and take an active part in shaping politics.
