Julia, the triathlete on the way to southern Spain – 2000 km of adventure!
A sporting dream comes true: 19-year-old Julia Abbas from Pliening is currently cycling on an adventurous journey from Germany to southern Spain. Your goal? Javea, where she plans to arrive at the end of August. She started her journey on July 22, 2025, which will take her an impressive 2,000 kilometers. She has currently covered around 1,600 kilometers and is enjoying every moment of the challenge.
Julia is currently in Barcelona and has had some remarkable journeys up to this point. Daily trips vary between four and eight hours, depending on the scenic landscapes and places she wants to explore. What shouldn't be neglected is that she covers around 100 kilometers every day, sometimes even with an altitude difference of up to 1000 meters. With her trekking bike and 20 kilos of luggage, including a tent, she is optimally equipped for a life on two wheels.
An unforgettable route
The road to Javea is no ordinary cycle path. Julia cycled through the impressive landscapes of Switzerland and France and had the pleasure of seeing flamingos and horses in the Camargue. The first contact with the sea took place in Montpellier, where she refreshed herself upon arrival in the Mediterranean. In between, she found the courage to spend the night in a front garden in Germany. She made this overnight stay possible via the “One Night Tent” platform. Such little adventures ensure unforgettable experiences and enrich your trip.
Julia is not only a passionate cyclist, but also a triathlete at SG Poing. She inherited her enthusiasm for sports from her father, Faris Abbas. For her, the trip is a matter of the heart and a personal challenge that she wanted to set herself before studying to become a high school teacher with the subjects Spanish and French.
