End of season ride in Weyhers: Cycling fans celebrate with 500 participants!
The traditional season-ending ride of TSV Weyhers-Ebersberg took place on September 16, 2025 and thrilled around 500 cycling fans from all over Germany. The event, which celebrated its 35th edition this year, was the final stage of the popular Rhön Special Cup. Despite the somewhat unfavorable weather, which brought rain in the morning, more and more participants came from half past nine to take part in the various tours. The event location was the grounds of the sponsor Rhönsprudel in Weyhers, which proved to be the ideal location for such a cycling festival, as numerous enthusiastic riders came along to explore the routes. Chairman Jörg Weisser and his team once again put together a great event.
The participants were spoiled for choice between four different routes that ranged from 30 to 72 kilometers. The start and end point was the TSV Weyhers-Ebersberg sports field, where the first tour started at 8:00 a.m. and all riders had until 11:00 a.m. to set off. Checks closed at 3:00 p.m. The most demanding Tour I over 72 kilometers took the cyclists over picturesque routes through Dietershausen, Wisselsrod, Dipperz, and many other towns back to Weyhers.
Diverse routes for all ability levels
The second route of 49 kilometers also offered a challenging route and was very similar to the first tour. In addition to these two tours, a family tour of 30 kilometers and a mountain bike tour of 41 kilometers were also offered. The latter was intended primarily for lovers of unpaved roads, as it ran over 15 kilometers of asphalt, while the rest was over loose ground and gravel. These routes are stored in the Komoot app so that the participants could orientate themselves easily.
Food during the trip was also very important: at the checkpoints there were fresh bananas, apples, cookies and drinks from the sponsor Rhönsprudel. The football department provided the barbecue station, while the jazz dance department provided coffee and cake for the cyclists' physical well-being. After such an exciting day, the participants were able to enjoy the end of the day in a good mood, with the positive atmosphere and the well-organized process being highlighted.
Prizes and honors related to the Rhön Special Cup
There are even bigger events behind the season-ending trip. There will be even more on offer at the finale of the “Rhön Special Cup” next Sunday, September 17th. A total of four signposted routes await participants: two for racing and touring cyclists and one family route. Anyone who takes part in all five stages can look forward to a bicycle helmet with the “Rhön Special Cup” logo, while participants who take part in four rides will receive a windbreaker. There will also be a very special raffle with vouchers from Fahrradwelt Seng as well as a special prize: an e-bike worth 1000 euros! These prizes will be awarded on the start day from 10 a.m., while the awards ceremony for the teams with the most participants will take place at 1:30 p.m.
Registration for the event is possible both in advance by transferring the entry fee and on site on the day of the event. Further information is available at fuldaerzeitung.de and via the official Rhön Special Cup website. This event continues to grow and is becoming more and more popular, which also reflects the enthusiasm of the cyclists in Weyhers!
