Bright autumn: 320 seniors enjoy the Chiemsee boat trip!
Today a very special day was celebrated at Lake Chiemsee for around 320 seniors and those in need from five Upper Bavarian districts. This traditional boat trip was organized by the Bavarian Red Cross (BRK) for the 52nd time. In the brilliant autumn weather, the guests started off full of anticipation for an unforgettable experience.
To start with, there was a breakfast together at the harbor in Prien, which increased the anticipation for the day ahead. The ship MS Edeltraud took the passengers on a leisurely cruise across Lake Chiemsee and docked in Chieming, where a well-deserved lunch break took place. Here the participants were provided with warm food and drinks by the BRK helpers - some of them enjoyed specialties from the region, which are very popular. The around 40 volunteers cheered on the good atmosphere, while musical entertainment from eight musicians on board rounded off the whole thing.
A day full of joy
The exuberant atmosphere accompanied the participants throughout the entire day. Ralf Kotthaus from the BRK Traunstein district association described the tour as a personal highlight for many passengers, and it was clear that this was not just a boat trip, but a real community experience. BRK chairman Markus Schlaffner thanked the supporters and emphasized the great commitment of the volunteers, without whom such an event would not have been possible.
In the afternoon the MS Edeltraud returned to Prien, and the positive feedback from the participants already gave rise to the desire for another tour next year. The joy about this day was so great that the BRK is already planning the next event - the 53rd Chiemsee boat trip is coming up.
Safe harbor and watercraft tips
While some enjoyed the water to the fullest, it is important to know that there are some regulations for watercraft around Lake Chiemsee. Passenger shipping moorings must be observed and mooring is only permitted on Fraueninsel. According to Chiemsee Alpenland, caution is advised, especially in front of a sunken tree on the north side of Fraueninsel. Overnight stays in the ports are possible upon registration, and the Bavarian Water Police have published detailed information on restricted areas and protected areas.
In summary, it can be said that the day on Lake Chiemsee was not only a nice event for the seniors, but also an excellent opportunity to strengthen the community and bring a little joy into everyday life. If you want to be there again next year, you should definitely make a note of the 53rd Chiemsee boat trip!
