Dramatic escape attempt: AMG driver jumps out of the window in front of the police!
There was a shocking incident in the Eichstätt district on Monday evening in which a 35-year-old man crashed his black Mercedes AMG into a meadow. The driver lost control of his vehicle in a right-hand bend, broke through a traffic sign and left clear tire tracks in the grass for almost 100 meters. The total damage is estimated at around 20,000 euros, as Donaukurier reports.
The situation escalated when the police were alerted and determined the whereabouts of the driver. When the officers arrived at the man's apartment, the owner said he was alone, but this turned out to be false information. Suddenly the 35-year-old jumped out of an upstairs window and tried to escape. This escape attempt ended with an injury that sent him to the hospital, where a blood sample was taken.
Drunk drivers in the region
This incident comes amid increasing problems with drunk drivers in the region. As In- Direkt reports, the Ingolstadt police station carried out extensive traffic checks on the night from Friday to Saturday and discovered three drunk drivers. For example, a 32-year-old man had a breath alcohol level of around 1.2 per mille, while another driver had just over 1 per mille. All those affected were prohibited from continuing their journey and appropriate procedures were initiated.
The legal regulations are clear: from a value of 0.5 per mille there are fines and points in Flensburg, from 1.1 per mille things become legally critical. Drunk driving poses a serious danger to all road users, as a study by VUT Sachverachtengesellschaft mbH & Co.KG shows. In the case of such crimes, preventative measures and increased controls are not only sensible, but necessary.
The legal consequences
The risks should not be underestimated: In addition to high fines, drivers also have to be prepared for harsher penalties for repeated violations, which can include medical and psychological examinations. Anyone who indulges in a “high” while behind the wheel not only puts themselves at risk, but also other road users. The case of the 35-year-old man is being further investigated by the Ingolstadt traffic police. Witnesses are called upon to come forward to shed light on the matter.
In light of current events, it is essential to become aware of the dangers of artificially induced driving impairment, not only for yourself but also for the greater good. For those who might want to take the final shot before driving: it will not only be expensive, but in the worst case scenario it can also be life-threatening. Information is the key to avoiding accidents and staying safe on the roads.
