Students in Beilngries: Donation flea market brings joy and support!
Last weekend, a lively fundraising flea market took place in front of the primary school and the special education center in Beilngries, which was organized with great commitment by the students. The third and fourth graders sold a colorful selection of toys that they had collected themselves from the students at the special school. The proceeds from the event will benefit the Beilngries neighborhood charity Danube Courier reported.
The preparations for the flea market took a good two weeks. A total of eleven classes took part in the event - nine from the primary school and two from the special school. “It is a wonderful opportunity for the children to let their creativity run wild and take on responsibility,” said Anne Westphal, the deputy head of the special education center.
A joint project
The parents' council and the students' parents provided food for the visitors and there is no denying that a delicious selection of snacks and drinks as well as the warm support certainly contributed to the positive atmosphere. Melanie Götz-Steimann, the school's deputy principal, emphasized how important the flea market is for the students, as it allows them to learn important skills such as money management, communication and arithmetic in a playful way. If children have the opportunity to actively participate in market events, they will then have a better sense of the value of money and things.
The event design was well thought out: the organizers set rules in advance about what could be sold and ensured that only items in good condition were put on the stands. The children motivated each other to look for treasures they no longer needed in their own homes, which they could then sell for a good cause, reported School support group.
A tradition is born
The successful flea market not only brought joy, but also strengthened the community. The school management plans to organize these types of joint events more often in the future. The positive feedback from parents and students shows that there is a great desire for more such activities. In other schools, too, flea markets are a popular way to bring students and parents together and at the same time collect money for a good cause. The Plan International gives tips on how such markets can be enriched, for example through further creative sales of self-made items or clothing donations.
In the end you can say that the flea market was a complete success. Not only was a considerable amount raised, but there was also a lot of fun and community - a successful mix that is simply fun!
