VfB Eichstätt: Light and shadow in the test match against Nördlingen!

An exciting test match took place in the Rieser Sportpark on Saturday, which ended in a goalless draw for VfB Eichstätt against TSV Nördlingen. In front of almost 200 spectators, the team under coach Dominik Betz showed that they have improved significantly compared to their last defeat against Pipinsried (0:3). Betz noted that the team lacked the necessary determination in finishing and lacked ideas in front of goal. Despite several good opportunities, Eichstätt was unable to take the lead.

What was particularly notable was that the Eichstätter defense only allowed the opponent one significant scoring opportunity, which was thwarted by goalkeeper Nikolai Sauernheimer. The second half brought more speed and intensity, which pleased the spectators. Nevertheless, Eichstätter's best chances were wasted in the final quarter of an hour, including a free kick from Arif Ekin that was parried by Nördlingen keeper Daniel Martin.

Injury concerns before the start of the season

Despite the positive appearance, the VfB Eichstätt camp is still worried about the injured players. Before the first game of the season against FC Memmingen on July 25th, several players are on the brink: Dominik Wolfsteiner has suffered a calf injury, while Johannes Mayer is sidelined with a knee injury. Daniel Hofrichter is also unavailable due to a torn cruciate ligament. In addition, Markus Waffler and Florian Lamprecht were also unable to play, and Jonas Perconti injured his knee after 62 minutes.

Compared to the previous test matches, however, it is a bright spot that Arif Ekin played through and Alexander Beusch showed positive approaches after his substitution. This could give Coach Betz hope that the team will find its way into the game better despite the injury concerns.

The previous test match records

In the test match period so far, VfB Eichstätt has achieved mixed results. The balance sheet includes:

opponent Result
Schwabach 3:2
Schweinfurt 1:5
FC Ingolstadt 0:5
Großschwarzenlohe 1:0
Pipinsried 0:0
Nordlingen 0:0

Coach Betz sees the past test match defeats as important learning opportunities to recognize deficits and prepare the team for the challenges ahead. He emphasizes that it is advantageous to make such mistakes now, before the season is in full swing Donaukurier and Heimatsport.

The next test match for the Eichstätter team will be crucial. On the horizon is FC Memmingen, who also scored 0-0 in the friendly against Schwaben Augsburg, while they are preparing for the regional league opener against Eichstätt in the dress rehearsal. Spectators can be curious to see whether VfB Eichstätt can make the necessary adjustments before the start of the season.
