A century of shooting spirit: Green Oak Neufinsing celebrates 100 years!

A significant anniversary is being celebrated in Neufinsing: The Grüne Eiche Schützengesellschaft looks back on a whole century of club history. Founded in 1925 in the Paul Wittmann inn, the club has experienced a lot since then. The first shooting master, Karl Michael, and the purchase of the first Zimmerstutzen are among the cornerstones of the traditional club. The Grüne Eiche joined Semptgau Erding as early as 1928, which represents an important step in the club's history. [Merkur reports](https://www.merkur.de/lokales/erding/finsing-ort377218/gruene-eiche-neufinsing-ein- Jahrhundert-im-zeichen-der-zielscheibe-93844804.html) about these beginnings and also points out that the first royal chain was purchased in 1929 through donations from members.

But club life was severely affected by the Second World War; many members had to be drafted into the war. After the breakup in 1945, when all firearms had to be handed in and the association's statutes were banned, the members faced a major challenge. The clubhouse burned down, causing important documents and many memories to be lost. Fortunately, the flag, king's chain and the Zimmerstutzen were saved, which enabled a new beginning.

Reconstruction and renewal

In 1950 the association was able to resume operations with 18 members in the Gasthaus zum Kraftwerk. Club life flourished again, and in 1971 pistol shooters also took part in the district championship. A milestone was the construction of our own shooting center in 1977, which was realized through an impressive 8,000 hours of work, of which 7,000 hours came from the members' own contributions.

Members and guests can soon look forward to the big anniversary celebration on July 27, 2025. The festive service in the Finsing Church begins at 10 a.m., followed by the blessing of a new banner. Afterwards, the barbecue at the Schützenheim am Buchenweg invites you to a social get-together, where speeches from the guests will not be missed. The Örtliche informs about the club's address, Buchenweg 10, and calls on those interested to stop by the shooting evening on Thursdays.

A look into the future

In order to continue to actively shape club life, the board plans to increase youth work. This is particularly important in order to get younger generations excited about shooting sports and club activities. In a time when shooting sports mean more than just tradition, the Grüne Eiche can be proud to be one of two members in Gau Erding who can shoot with large calibers. Shooting clubs in Germany, like the Grüne Eiche, are part of a well-established system of shooting clubs that has changed over the centuries - from a historical tradition to a modern sport.

The Grüne Eiche Neufinsing shooting club not only has a long tradition, but also a promising future. By striving to attract new members and keep club life alive, the club shows that shooting still has a high priority in Germany.
