Export hero: Erding shines with rising international sales!
In the Erding district, the export business remains a central support of the domestic economy. The current export quota of the industrial companies based there with over 20 employees was a considerable 32.2 percent in 2024, which corresponds to an increase of 1.5 percentage points compared to 2023. A total of 55 industrial companies in the district achieved foreign sales of around 339 million euros, such as ed-live.de reported.
But what about the Bavarian market? In the Free State, the export quota in 2024 was even 58 percent, with sales abroad of 274.4 billion euros. This reduces the sum - a decline of around 6 percent compared to 2023 when it was 293 billion euros - but Bavaria remains an export nation. The most important markets for the Bavarian products are the USA, China, Austria, Italy and France. In particular, the increasingly higher market dominance of the EU countries, which are the largest target region at around 52 percent, followed by Asia with around 20 percent of exports.
The challenges and opportunities
Export after the United States takes a solid place with 13 percent, while exports to China are in demand from 10 percent to just under 7 percent less. Export hits are primarily vehicles, machines and electrical engineering products. IHK general manager Manfred Gößl emphasizes the immense importance of the export business, especially in times of crisis and calls for the elimination of trade scabies in the EU internal market.
But the foreign business also contains challenges: bubble -fitting supply chains, trade conflicts, geopolitical tensions and the increasing competitive pressure do not make it easy for Bavarian companies. A survey by Prognos AG examined various new sales markets in 2023, especially in Asia and Latin America, to enable relief and diversification for companies. This study came to new results in 2024 that provide interesting information about potential new markets.
support for small companies
To make it easier for small and medium -sized companies to open up new foreign markets, the Bavaria foreign trade portal is available. According to [biohk.de] (https://www.biihk.de/themen/internationalization/detail page-internationalization/aussenwirtschaftsportal-bayern.html), this portal is operated as a community initiative of the Bavarian IHKS and craft chambers. It offers land reports, checklists as well as information about events and funding opportunities in foreign trade. These offers are intended to support companies in diversification so that they can develop a good knack for new customers.
Another interesting step in this area is the Bavarian Export Prize 2025. Companies with up to 100 employees have time to apply for it until July 31. The aim of the price is to distinguish smaller companies with successful stories in international business and make their services visible, such as vbw-bayern.de
Even if the numbers have fluctuated in export, it should be noted: the Bavarian companies show strong will to internationalize and the willingness to face the challenges of the market. It is important to take advantage of the opportunities to continue to be very popular in the future. The support from state and economic institutions is an important step on the way to new ones.
