On Saturday evening, an exciting handball game took place on Nuremberg's Kurt-Leucht-Weg between HC Erlangen and ThSV Eisenach, which the hosts won 24:23. Both teams started the game on equal terms and had the same points and number of goals conceded after ten match days. But in the first half, Erlangen clearly pulled away.

From the start, Erlangen showed that they wanted to control the game. With strong defense and an outstanding performance from goalkeeper Dario Quenstedt, who saved several shots, they led 15-7 at halftime. Viggó Kristjánsson, the game's top scorer, scored six goals in the first 30 minutes. Eisenach's coach Sebastian Hinze was forced to take a time out when the score was 6:1 in order to motivate and reset his team.

Exciting progress in the second half

Eisenach got into the game better in the second half. Goalkeeper Matija Spikic increased his performance and helped his team reduce the deficit to 17:16. After 13 goalless minutes, it was Kristjánsson who found the net for the first time for Erlangen, followed by Christopher Bissel, who increased the lead to 19:17. The game increasingly developed into a defensive battle in which both teams gave each other nothing.

The tension increased as the Eisenach team got closer to equalizing. But Kristjánsson, who was unstoppable that evening, finally scored the decisive goal from seven meters, which secured the final victory for Erlangen.
