Seniors enjoy a trip to the enchanting Sanspareil rock garden

The Ehrenbürg e.V. senior community had a fun day visiting the rock garden in Sanspareil. On July 9, 2025, the seniors from Kirchehrenbach set off on their half-day trip with the community bus and a sports club bus. In our luggage we were in a good mood and looking forward to a special experience that not only offered nature but also a piece of history.

The rock garden is a unique garden complex that dates back to the time of the Bayreuth margrave couple Friedrich and Wilhelmine in the 18th century. At the end of the path is the historic Oriental building, which served as a summer palace and will remain closed to tours in 2023 and 2024 due to renovation work. At the end of the charming excursion, the participants stopped at the castle café, where delicious coffee and cake were served. This particularly pleased the seniors, who ended the day with a social get-together. With the knowledge that we had gotten to know the nature and culture of the region a little better, the community bus brought everyone back home in a good mood and safely.

The park tours offered in the rock garden take place from May to October, on Saturdays and Sundays, and only cost three euros per participant. For Zwernitz Castle, which is also part of the history of this area, you can gain insight into the former margravial hunt, which is particularly exciting for families. There are hands-on stations for children and a wonderful view over Franconian Switzerland.
