Walking and cycle path bridge near Kempfing closed for four days from June 30th!
In the coming days it will be a little quieter in Moosinning, especially in the area of the pedestrian and cycle path bridge over the Isar Canal. This will be closed for a short time from June 30th, which will result in some detours for pedestrians and cyclists. From Monday, June 30th to Thursday, July 3rd, bridge users are asked to take alternative routes as the bridge undergoes a thorough structural inspection, such as Mercury reported.
An underside device is used to inspect the underside of the structure to ensure the safety and roadworthiness of the bridge. Such tests are required by law and serve to detect damage early so that road safety is maintained says DEKRA.
Detours and notices
If you are traveling during this period, please remember to follow the signposted diversions. Bicycle traffic will be redirected via the streets in Kempfing, Stammham and Ziegelstatt. Traffic disruptions are therefore inevitable, which is why it is advisable to plan a small detour.
The bridge has an interesting history. Its lifting took place on October 18, 2018, when two mobile cranes brought the bridge girders into position. The entire construction process, led by Grassl engineers, included not only the assembly of the semi-finished parts, but also the construction of an integrated structure with an airtight box girder and a variable height. The centerpiece is the robust concrete road slab, which was designed for pedestrian and cycle paths as reported by Grassl engineers.
Road safety comes first
Carrying out these tests and inspections is part of the traffic safety obligation that lies in the hands of the municipalities. These duties include the construction and regular maintenance of road bridges to ensure they meet safety and durability requirements. The aim of these comprehensive measures is to identify any damage at an early stage and to initiate suitable remediation measures.
The municipality of Moosinning, supported by the Freising State Building Authority, has taken responsibility and is calling on all road users to use the proposed alternative routes. Stay safe and plan your routes ahead – we wish you good luck on the detours!
