B 2 full closure: traffic chaos in Puchheim and Germering!

The road closures around federal highway 2 are currently causing problems for many drivers in Puchheim and Germering. Since Monday morning, June 23rd, the B 2 has been completely closed between Puchheim-Ort and the junction with the A 99. The reason for the full closure is extensive renovation work to replace the badly damaged roadway, which has already caused significant disruption. During the first day of work there were traffic jams on Augsburger Straße in Puchheim-Ort and in Germering, which didn't make the situation any easier for many road users. The city of Germering calls for people to use the official diversion route via Gröbenzell and Lochhausen, even if many drivers try to avoid a detour through Puchheim and Germering.

The renovation itself is expected to last until July 13th. Traffic from Fürstenfeldbruck will be redirected via Gröbenzell towards the Munich-Lochhausen junction. Anyone planning to leave the A 99 via the Germering Nord junction should also be prepared for wide detours. It is also recommended to observe the signposted diversions and follow traffic instructions. Poor weather conditions could occasionally extend construction times, which could further impact traffic.

Additional lockdowns and challenges

Another bottleneck is expected from July 8th to 10th, when Münchner Strasse will be narrowed at the level of Emmeringer Strasse in Fürstenfeldbruck for two days. This means that the access and exit for residents of the closed Emmeringer Straße coming from the direction of B 2 is also closed - access is only via Emmering.

The reactions of drivers are clear on social networks: dissatisfaction with the extended journey times, inadequate signage and parked cars, which also hinder traffic, arise again and again. Many would like to finally see a permanent solution to the problems on this busy route.

With the B2 closure, the city is not only making commutes longer, but is also making it more difficult to get to shops and service providers in the region. Mercury reports the difficulties and encourages residents not to lose patience while the construction work is carried out. It remains to be hoped that the renewal of the road will be completed soon and that both residents and travelers will be able to reach their destinations in a relaxed manner again.
