Emmering celebrates: New Vespa Club for shared adventures!
A new club has been established in Emmering that makes the hearts of Vespa lovers beat faster. At a friendly get-together, five enthusiastic Vespa riders came up with the brilliant idea of starting their own Vespa club. It now has twelve members who are determined to explore the most beautiful corners of their homeland on two wheels. The founding members - Fritz Algeier, Josef Michl, Ludwig Steinsberger, Dieter Schumann, Manfred Hirt and Jakob Scholz - set themselves one goal: to create a relaxed and comradely community, without the often annoying clubbing that you sometimes find in other clubs. How Mercury reports, the members plan regular trips and excursions to discover new routes together.
A particularly hot topic for Vespa enthusiasts is the abolition of the current restrictions on the B196 driving license, which are affecting their plans for trips abroad. Lake Garda is on the horizon as one of their big travel destinations, and the anticipation of the trip together is already palpable. The club meetings take place three to four times a year in the Greek restaurant “Emmeringer”, where the members not only make plans but also enjoy the company. Supplemented by a WhatsApp group, they keep up to date with important information and upcoming trips.
The right driving license for Vespa drivers
Before the adventure on two wheels can really begin, you must of course have a suitable driving license. If you want to speed around on a Vespa, you have various options, which depend on the respective model variants and the type of vehicle. How Vespa Mag explains, young people aged 15 and over are allowed to drive with a class AM driving license of less than 50 cc. If you want more power, you can drive a Vespa up to 125 cc with a driving license class A1 from the age of 16.
However, there are also regulations for more experienced drivers that should be observed. The car driving license, which was obtained before April 1, 1980, allows you to drive two-wheelers up to 50 cc. Since January 2020, a Vespa up to 125 cc can be driven with the B196 extension, which requires you to be at least 25 years old and have held a class B driving license for five years. For this expansion, around 500 to 920 euros have to be put on the table.
Increasing popularity of scooters and Vespas
Especially in times of rising gasoline prices, scooters, mopeds and Vespas are becoming increasingly popular. These motorized two-wheelers are not only a practical means of transport, but also a piece of joie de vivre. The cost of acquiring a driving license can vary between 1,000 and 2,000 euros, depending on which class you choose and which driving school you choose.
The Emmeringer Vespa Club membership is a welcome initiative that invites you to meet like-minded people who share the same passion for riding a Vespa. The simplifications in the driving license regulations make things even more attractive and help members to quickly enjoy the pleasure of driving. If you are also interested in becoming a member, now is the perfect time to get started!
