Olching celebrates the Folk Festival: Magg taps for the last time!

Olching, Deutschland - A joyful occasion for Olching: On June 15, 2025, the 73rd Olchinger Volksfest was ceremoniously opened. Mayor Andreas Magg tapped the traditional Kaltenberg beer with three strong strokes - an emblematic moment that not only delighted the guests, but also the more than 2200 participants of the pageant through the city. It was a special appearance for Magg because he will be elected as a candidate for the district administrator in the coming year and thus said goodbye to his office as mayor. His last official act at the Volksfest was characterized by a good mood, despite the summer temperatures that gave the celebrations an additional charm.

The guest of honor Luitpold Prinz of Bavaria also showed, while those present were encouraged to support the numerous rides such as the Disco Flyer and Break Dance on the festival site. The members of the Olchinger Madlverein in particular provided variety: they had battery -operated fans with them to counter the constant heat. At this folk festival, which is called the “6th season” in Olching by many, tradition and conviviality come together.

The folk festival, which lasts until next Sunday, offers a varied program: In addition to the traditional folk festival with Olchinger clubs, there are offers for young and old, including a children's painting competition and a fire brigade classic car that also took place on June 15. Among other things, the cabaret artist Roland Hefter appeared in the marquee on June 12th and provided musical highlights, while a brilliant fireworks were rounded off the evening.

In addition, the festival is a convivial meeting point for the whole family: with cool drinks and delicious food, visitors can enjoy the Bavarian hospitality to the fullest. And sporting challenges are also planned for the active, such as a boxing match. In cooperation with the Widmann family, breweries and numerous showmen, the city of Olching has put together a festival that does justice to its reputation and attracts both locals and tourists.
