In an ambitious step towards a high-performance digital infrastructure, the communities of Murnau, Weilheim and Peißenberg have decided to establish a joint network company for broadband expansion. This became clear when a cooperation agreement was signed in Murnau. The declared goal: a comprehensive expansion of the fiber optic network in the region. Progress and challenges
The Weilheim municipal utilities are already ahead and have made the furthest progress in the expansion, while Murnau and Peißenberg are still in the planning phase. The focus here is on close cooperation with private companies that take on the laying of the lines and are selected and controlled by the new network company. The aim is to use synergy effects and create coordination opportunities with other construction sites.
Another aspect of the project is the use of existing infrastructure. The Federal Network Agency emphasizes that companies can cooperate in the expansion or share existing infrastructure. The future of broadband expansion requires a good hand in planning and implementation.
