Christmas market is moving: new splendor in the Garmisch spa park!

The Christmas market in Garmisch-Partenkirchen has come up with something very special this year: It is moving from the usual Richard-Strauss-Platz to the tranquil Michael-Ende-Kurpark. This is reported by the Mercury. From November 21st to January 4th, visitors can expect a magical atmosphere that extends over six weeks. Not only the traditional market awaits locals and tourists, but also numerous attractions.

The organizers, consisting of the Garmischer Zentrum advertising association, GaPa Tourismus and SC Riessersee, have come up with a lot of ideas. A highlight will be the 15 by 20 meter ice surface, which offers the opportunity for ice skating and curling. To improve security, there are no bollards or barriers, which significantly simplifies entry regulations.

“Winter in the Park” and more

The Christmas market is integrated into the “Winter in the Park” event, which also creates a festive atmosphere. Tried-and-tested elements such as the boot campaign, the wishing tree as well as musical interludes and face painting should not be missing, so that even the little ones get their money's worth. After the holidays, GaPa Tourismus takes over the programming, with concerts by artists such as Fenzl, Gamskult and Lenze and de Buam, which create a great atmosphere.

In order to further enhance the ambience, the lighting in the spa park will be uniform. The entrance shines in bright light - a welcome invitation for everyone who wants to enjoy the festive atmosphere. But the city of Garmisch-Partenkirchen offers much more during the Christmas season. The streets are festively decorated and invite you to experience the romantic atmosphere while strolling. Many Christmas markets in the region present mulled wine, gingerbread, handmade gifts and local delicacies.

Special traditions and events

Traditional celebrations take place in the surrounding mountains, including the unique Krampus Run, which reflects an ancient tradition. If you haven't had enough of a festive atmosphere after the Christmas market, you can visit the Hüttenzauber in Partenkirchen from December 27th to January 4th. It not only ensures physical enjoyment, but also offers a lively atmosphere.

Another highlight is the transformation of Ludwigstrasse between the first Advent and Epiphany into a tranquil nativity scene. This makes every visit to Garmisch-Partenkirchen during the Christmas season a special experience.
