Hope is fading: Eibsee search for father and son continues!
There is currently sadness and concern in the picturesque Eibsee near Grainau, a popular destination for holidaymakers and locals. On July 5th, a tragic accident occurred there that left the entire community in suspense. A 33-year-old father and his six-year-old son, both Chinese citizens, are missing after the boy fell from the pedal boat and the father jumped in to save him. Unfortunately, both went under. Loud Mercury is the family from the Haßberge district in Lower Franconia and was out at Eibsee that day with other family members, the 34-year-old mother and the four-year-old daughter.
The immediately alerted rescue workers arrived at the scene of the accident within three minutes, but despite a massive search effort that included divers, boats and a helicopter, the search was unfortunately stopped on Saturday evening without success. The weather conditions, characterized by rain and thunderstorms, made the situation even more complicated for the emergency services. It wasn't until the following Sunday that the search was resumed with increased forces, including special divers and helicopters BR reported.
Intensive search measures
According to the police, special sonar techniques from an external specialist company are also used in the search measures. The necessary preparations were made for this special operation on July 11th. In addition to the trained divers, several rescue organizations are also ready to continue the search. Search dogs were deployed, but were unable to locate any human scent. The challenge for the emergency services lies in the different water layers and currents of the Eibsee, which make it considerably more difficult to locate the missing people.
Overall, numerous organizations are involved in the search operations, including the water rescue service and the fire department. The Weilheim criminal police have taken over the investigation and have so far ruled out foul play, which the investigators point to a tragic accident. Among the details, what stands out are the psychological consequences for the mother and daughter who witnessed the incident. Both received psychological support after the incident.
Call for safety
The tragedy at Eibsee has once again raised the issue of safety in the water. DLRG President Ute Vogt and the Bavarian Red Cross urgently appeal to water sports enthusiasts and bathers to take the wearing of life jackets and life jackets - especially for children - seriously. There have already been 27 fatal swimming accidents in Bavaria since the beginning of June, which is a worrying number and underlines how important personal safety is in the water.
During this difficult time, we think of the missing people and their relatives. The rescuers' operations continue and we hope for a positive outcome to this tragic matter.
