New UV index boards in the Krumbach outdoor pool: safety for sun worshipers!
In the summer of 2025, the forests and swimming lakes in the region will be the focus of disease prevention. Against this background, the AOK has launched a new initiative: the introduction of UV index boards, as recently done in the outdoor swimming pool in Krumbach. These panels are intended to raise public awareness of the dangers of UV radiation. How Trendyone reports, the Günzburg district provides citizens with boards that provide information about when and how to best protect yourself. The first board has already been set up in the Krumbach outdoor pool.
The central advantage of the boards is the integrated QR code, which allows users to conveniently access the daily UV index on their smartphones. Markus Sauer, the operations manager of the outdoor pool, emphasizes the importance of this measure for the health of bathers. “Properly protected, our visitors can enjoy the summer carefree,” says Sauer.
Health prevention in focus
Mayor Fischer sees the UV index board as an essential component in promoting Krumbach as a health city. Another benefit is the installation of a UV index board at Legoland Günzburg, which indicates the increasing awareness of UV protection. The boards not only function as a source of information, but also as valuable reminders to be careful with your own skin.
Experts warn that exposure to UV radiation can have serious health consequences beyond the well-known sunburn. The DGUV has found that the rate of skin cancer has already doubled since 2000. It is therefore even more important to increase awareness of UV protection, especially during outdoor leisure activities. This warning is underpinned by the increase in risk factors – such as climate change and the associated increased UV exposure.
Tips for protecting yourself from UV radiation
The German Weather Service recommends avoiding strong sunlight and rescheduling activities to the morning and afternoon hours. Especially from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. you should stay in the shade or, if possible, stay indoors. Direct contact with the sun is dangerous for babies in their first year of life, which is why parents should be particularly careful.
Research shows that even low levels of UV exposure can have negative long-term health effects. Therefore, measures should always be taken to avoid excessive radiation. The introduction of the UV index panels is a positive step in the right direction and could help to sustainably protect the health of people in the region.
